The latest Hyundai Sonata recall affects 215,171 2013-2014 Sonata sedans — most for a second time — because fuel hoses may leak within the engine compartment and cause fires.
The latest recall happened shortly after the NHTSA launched an investigation into engine compartment fires that have plagued Hyundai and related automaker Kia.
There have been 138 reports of problems in the U.S., but no confirmed injuries, crashes, or fires.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) website, the low-pressure fuel hose that connects the low-pressure fuel pump to the direct injection fuel pump may crack over time, due to heat generated within the engine compartment.
Associated Press reports during the 2020 recall, dealers inspected the hoses and replaced them if they were damaged. If not, the heat-resistant tape was installed.
Hyundai dealerships will replace the low-pressure fuel hose at no cost to the vehicle owner.
Hyundai will begin notifying affected car owners on July 5, 2022. Car owners requiring additional information may contact Hyundai via phone at 1-855-371-9460.
Car owners can check for recalls using their vehicle identification number (VIN) on NHTSA’s website.
