Kelly’s Injury Story
It was approximately 3:45 in the afternoon. I was coming to a stop on the Sam Houston toll road, and then there was a kaboom. When I finally got settled down and the truck got stopped, I did notice first responder coming across the wall to help me out. As I’m looking back, I had been struck from behind by an 18-wheeler. There were no black marks whatsoever from the 18-wheeler, and he admitted that he was speeding and on the phone. That wasn’t my idea of having a good time, anything but laying in a hospital bed while they marked on me with, “This is where we’re going to do the incision. These are the vertebrae’s we’re taking out.” I would much rather be putting the boat in the water and taking off and having fun, but no.
There was basically the neighborhood attorney that suggested, “Yes, this is the law firm you’re going to need, Kelly. This is Kherkher and Garcia. I can help you, but let’s get these men involved.” And when I met Kherkher and Garcia, I was like, “Oh, this is big league and I’m big hurt.” I’m hurt bad. They’re talking surgeries. A lot of money to have that done, so you got to have the upper attorneys to help you, and I don’t think I could get any more on the top than with Kherkher and Garcia. They were very much a shake your hand kind of, “Please come in. Meet some of the staff.” But all of a sudden, I realized I’ve got somebody that’s going to get me through this financially. And I was so worried, how can I go through the hospital bills? He assured me, “Don’t worry about anything. It will be taken care of.”
Life Changing Settlement
Mom was always, “Get up. Put your boots on. Go to work. Make a living.” I never had a problem doing that in Texas. That’s easy to do. When they take that away from you, Kherkher and Garcia will make sure you are compensated. That’s the only thing that made my heart feel good at that time, was just knowing that, yes, I’m going to be compensated. I will not have to worry about bills. But when they let you know, “We’re going to take care of this. We’re going to do this. You’ve got to lay there and get better. You’ve got to heal. We’re going to take care of your problems,” it’ll make you feel great. It’ll make you feel great.
