News: Police respond to hit-and-run near Westbury

HOUSTON, TX – Dispatchers sent police to the scene of a hit-and-run collision at W Bellfort Ave and Sandpiper Dr Monday afternoon, according to the City of Houston Active Incidents tracker.

The car wreck happened around 3:55 p.m.

Authorities have not released details on what caused the incident.

News: Driver strikes, injures bicyclist on FM 1489 near Vernon Frost Rd

FORT BEND COUNTY, TX – A pickup truck collided with an injured bicyclist on FM 1489 near Vernon Frost Rd Thursday, Click 2 Houston reports.

Ankur Wadhwa heard a roar right before the truck hit him. Wadhwa describes the vehicle as a blue pickup truck with a white sign on its rear. The truck’s driver fled the scene after the incident.

Following the wreck, another driver pulled over to assist Wadhwa. They called 911 around 4:30 p.m.

First responders hospitalized Wadhwa with a fractured elbow, road rash, and contusions on the left side of his body.

The incident is under investigation by the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office.

News: Hit-and-run driver strikes, injures sisters at Old Spanish Tr and Holcombe Blvd

HOUSTON, TX – A hit-and-run driver struck a pair of sisters Saturday morning, KHOU reports.

The sisters, De’Nesha Bell and O’Shanae Bell, were leaving a club near Old Spanish Trail and Holcombe Blvd at around 2:45 a.m. when they were struck from behind by a vehicle. The driver then fled the scene.

De’Nesha Bell was knocked unconscious. She would later wake up during eye surgery. O’Shanae Bell also suffered serious injuries. The two were taken to the hospital after a witness called 911.

Prior to the collision, a man approached the sisters and asked if they needed a ride. He angrily sped off when they turned him down. They believe he may be connected to the incident.

News: Woman struck, killed in hit-and-run at Selinksky Road and Martin Luther King Blvd

ALDINE, TX – A woman was fatally struck by a car involved in a street race Wednesday at Selinksky Road and Martin Luther King Blvd, according to News 4 San Antonio.

At around midnight, a woman in her 50’s was using a walker to cross the street as the two street racers approached the intersection at high speeds. One of the vehicles, a Lincoln MKZ, collided with the woman.

Neither of the two alleged street racers stopped to check on the woman following the crash. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are going through surveillance footage from convenience stores in the area in the hope of finding leads in the case. If they find the suspect, they will most likely be charged with failure to render aid.

Hit-and-run collision involving multiple vehicles kills man on 2200 block of Hwy 6

HOUSTON, TX – A man died after being struck by at least four vehicles as he was trying to cross the street on the 2200 block of Hwy 6, reports ABC 13.

The collisions began around 10:15 p.m. None of the vehicles that struck the man remained at the scene.

Investigators are hoping surveillance footage of the area will help them track down the hit-and-run drivers. They are urging anyone with information about the crash to contact them.

News: Hit-and-run kills elderly man on Ley Rd

HOUSTON, TX – A hit-and-run collision at 7500 Ley Rd killed a 73-year-old man on Monday evening, according to Houston Police.

A person driving a Blue Mazda was heading south on Homestead Rd. They were in the process of turning onto Ley Rd when a Chrysler collided with their vehicle.

The driver of the Mazda was hospitalized. A passenger in the backseat was launched from the car and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Authorities will release the name of the deceased once their next of kin have been notified.

Houston Police Department’s Hit and Run Unit is investigating the case and urges anyone with any information concerning the incident contact them.

HOUSTON, TX – A FSRA, which stands for Failure to Stop and Render Aid, was reported near the Mahatma Gandhi District of Houston on Friday afternoon, according to the City of Houston accident tracker.

The hit-and-run collision occurred at the intersection of Southwest Fwy and Westpark Dr around 2:46 p.m.

News: Man arrested for hit-and-run crash on Westheimer Rd

HOUSTON, TX – Walter Dewayne Petties, 21, has been charged in connection to the deadly crash that occurred Thursday night at 7900 Westheimer Rd, reports HPD.

The victim, a 44-year-old male, was crossing the street when he was struck by a Honda driven by Pettie. Pettie then fled the scene on foot after pulling into a driveway and calling 911.

Petties returned about two hours later to the scene of the collision with family members. He was arrested and charged with failure to stop and render aid.

Authorities will release the name of the victim once it has been verified by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

The Vehicular Crimes Division of the HPD is investigating the case.

Pedestrian on Westheimer Rd struck, killed by hit and run driver

A person driving a green Honda struck the unidentified male pedestrian on the 8000 block of Westheimer Rd. The driver then parked the Honda and fled the area on foot.
