Driver strikes traffic barrel at 10700 Northwest Freeway, dies

HOUSTON, TX – A crash on the Northwest freeway killed a man around 12:20 a.m. Saturday, reports Houston police.

The driver, an unidentified 38-year-old male was southbound on the Northwest Freeway when, for reasons unknown, they slammed into a traffic barrel with no attempt to brake or slowdown before the impact.

The Vehicular Crimes Division of the Houston Police Department is conducting an investigation into the accident.

Driver on North Freeway hits, kills man

HOUSTON, TX –A driver on the North Freeway hit and killed a pedestrian on Thursday morning, reports KTRK.

The driver was northbound on the section of the North Freeway between N Vista Dr and E Richie Rd when a man suddenly appeared on the roadway around 5 a.m. They swerved to avoid colliding with the pedestrian but failed.

Immediately after striking the pedestrian, the driver stopped, exited their vehicle, and checked on the man. They discovered he had died.

The identity of the victim has not been disclosed.

Car fatally strikes motorcyclist in Acres Homes

HOUSTON, TX – A person riding a dirt bike was struck and killed after they ran a stop sign in the Acres Homes community on July 7, reports The Leader.

At around 8 p.m. Darryl Johnson, 30 was traveling west on Williamsdell St on a dirt bike.

Johnson then allegedly ran the stop sign at the intersection of Williamsdell St and Majorie St and was struck by a vehicle that eastbound. The impact launched Johnson off his bike.

First responders took Johnson to an area hospital where he died from his injuries.

The driver who allegedly struck Johnson was questioned by police.

Driver dies after pulling out in front of Van on Hwy 249

HOUSTON, TX – A driver is dead after their vehicle was rear-ended by a van on Saturday, reports KTRK.

The victim was driving a white car on Hwy 249 when he pulled out in front of a van and slammed on the brakes. The van then rear-ended the car.

Following the crash, the victim was taken to a hospital where they died from their injuries. The condition of the driver of the van is not known.

Investigators do not know why the car driver stopped suddenly, however, they do not think impairment played a role in the collision.

Driver strikes multiple cars, hits concrete barrier, dies in Cypresswood Commons

HOUSTON, TX – A man died Sunday in the Cypresswood Commons neighborhood after crashing, reports Fox 26 Houston.

Prior to the crash, witnesses say the victim was driving erratically. Around 12:30 a.m., they were traveling on I-45 and approaching Cypresswood Dr when they collided with two vehicles and them slammed into a concrete barrier. The vehicle then flipped over and landed on its roof.

It is not known whether or not anyone else was hurt in the accident. Officials have not yet identified the deceased.

Pickup truck strikes, kills pedestrian on Sam Houston Pkwy

HOUSTON, TX – A pickup truck collided with and killed a pedestrian Monday on the Sam Houston Pkwy, reports KTRK.

The woman, an unidentified 28-year-old, was crossing the street on the 9000 block of the Sam Houston Pkwy when she was hit by a GMC pickup truck around 4:45 a.m. She was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

After striking the pedestrian, the driver of the pickup then went into another lane and hit a big rig truck.

According to the police, the driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with them. They were then released. The big rig driver failed to stop after being struck by the pickup.

Officials have not yet disclosed the identity of the deceased woman.

Woman crashes, hospitalized in Conroe

CONROE, TX – A woman is in the hospital following a crash in Conroe on Saturday, according to Montgomery Police Reporter.

The woman was driving a Chevrolet Tahoe with three children passengers on FM 1314. As the woman approached Old Humble Piplin road, she strayed off the road and into a wooded area.

Firefighters extricated the woman and hospitalized her in critical condition. The children, who were between the ages of 3 and 10, were not injured.

The Texas Department of Public Safety, DPS, is investigating the accident. They believe impairment may have played a role in the crash.

Driver dies, injures 3 after running red light in Westwood

HOUSTON, TX – A person is dead following a crash near the Houston community of Westwood, reports KTRK.

At 3 a.m. Sunday morning, a car with one passenger was driving erratically when it ran a red light at the intersection of Southwest Freeway and Bissonnet St. The car then collided with an SUV before slamming into a concrete pillar under a bridge.

The SUV was occupied by a driver and a passenger. They were both hospitalized in stable condition. The driver of the vehicle that ran the red light was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Their passenger was also hospitalized.

Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased driver.

Driver strikes, kills woman in Crosby

CROSBY, TX – A woman was killed in a hit-and-run on FM 2100 early Thursday morning, according to an HCSO press release.

Collen Rindfuss left Frenz Sports Bar and Grill, located at 19128 FM 2100, around 1:05 a.m. She was driving a Kia Rio and turned on to southbound on FM 2100. At the same time, a Ford Explorer operated by Osmaro Oswaldo Guevara was traveling north on FM 2100.

Guevara collided with the Rio as it was turning south. The impact launched Rindfuss out of the car and pushed the Kia off the road and into a ditch. Rindfuss was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Osmaro’s Ford Explorer continued to travel north on FM 2100 until it came to a rest facing south in the north bound lanes. He left the scene after being picked up in a dark-colored truck.

Officers located Osmaro after contacting his girlfriend. Osmaro was detained by police and admitted to both being the driver of the Ford Explorer and not checking on the victim following the crash. He claimed he did not call 911 because he was afraid.

Osmaro was arrested. The Vehicular Crimes Division of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.

Semi-truck strikes, kills pedestrian on North Freeway

HOUSTON, TX – A pedestrian lost their life Tuesday evening after being struck by a semi-truck on the North Freeway, reports the Houston Police Department.

Police were dispatched to 4100 North Freeway after receiving reports of the incident at 11:45 p.m. The pedestrian was attempting to cross the freeway when they were struck by the semi-truck which was heading south. They were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Following the collision, the driver of the semi-truck stayed at the scene. Police do not believe impairment was a factor in the crash.
