John Dessalet brings over two decades of experience as a litigation and trial paralegal. John has extensive experience in civil litigation and has handled virtually every type of insurance coverage issue in connection with a variety of insurance policies, including commercial general liability, and workers’ compensation, having spent several hundred days in trial in both state and federal court. John also has experience on cases involving toxic torts, offshore drilling and maritime accidents, products liability, construction defect lawsuits, industrial accidents, contractual disputes, intellectual property, business litigation, real estate transactions, oil and gas matters, and white collar criminal defense. John currently serves as the Litigation Manager, a senior management role within the firm. John is directly involved with most aspects of the firm’s operations including administration, managing filings and docketing, and assisting attorneys in depositions and hearings. As a key member of the management team, John helps manage client portfolios and the development and execution of strategic initiatives, in order to best serve each client’s specific legal needs. John also routinely drafts client correspondence, attends client meetings, monitors the status of deadlines and works closely with attorneys to prepare and meet those deadlines. As a former police officer, John is also well versed in identifying and locating key witnesses and evidence for trial. Prior to joining Kherkher Garcia, John worked as a litigation director at Daly & Black, P.C., Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP, one of the largest defense firms in Houston and was a litigation and trial paralegal to well-known Houston attorney Rusty Hardin. During his free time, John enjoys spending time with his wife, Rosemarie, travelling, listening to live music, salsa dancing, and exploring outdoor activities.
