HOUSTON, TX – A woman suffered serious injuries after falling down a manhole in Kingwood early this morning, according to information from KHOU.

The incident happened on the Eastex Freeway service road near Loop 494 at around 3:30 a.m., after a woman pulled over on the service road and had gotten out of her vehicle. She then fell into a manhole that was apparently hidden within an area of tall grass.

There was little to break the victim’s fall, according to the report, and the incident occurred in an enclosed, deep space.

After about an hour, the victim was rescued by emergency crews. She was then taken to the hospital for the treatment of significant wounds.
