HOUSTON, TX – Police responded to the scene of a fatal accident involving a bicyclist at 5500 Sunbeam St on Monday.

The 44-year-old male driver of a Toyota Camry was heading west on Sunbeam St when the 60-year-old victim rode out on a bicycle in front of the Camry and was hit by the vehicle.

Paramedics were called to the site of the collision around 7:25 p.m. They pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Officers questioned the driver and released him. They do not believe he was impaired at the time of the wreck. Their investigation has led them to think that the bicyclist emerged from a wooded area on a poorly lit road.
