HOUSTON, TX – A driver suspected of being impaired slammed head-on into a patrol car on the 500 block of Aldine Mail Route Road Thursday evening, reports ABC 13.

The incident occurred around 11:45 p.m.  The suspect, an unidentified 59-year-old man, left the westbound lanes of Aldine Mail Route Rd in his Toyota Solara and crashed into the deputy’s patrol car, which was in the eastbound lanes.

Investigators do not believe the suspect was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. However, the Solara’s airbag did deploy on impact.

Following the crash, both drivers were hospitalized with minor injuries

Though no alcoholic containers were found in the suspect’s Solara, deputies planned on conducting a toxicology test at the hospital.

The results of the test as well as the names of the suspect and deputy have not yet been released.
