HOUSTON, TX – A police chase through northeast Houston last night ended in a fiery crash that killed a woman and injured two children and four adults, including a sheriff’s deputy.
Fox 26 reports that the dramatic incident happened at the intersection of Laura Koppe Road and Lockwood Drive at about 11 p.m. Wednesday. A deputy who was pursuing a possible robbery suspect drove through the intersection and struck an SUV, which overturned and collided with two nearby vehicles. The crash sent the deputy’s vehicle caroming into a parking lot, where it hit several cars. Seven vehicles were ultimately damaged.
Emergency responders pronounced the woman driving the vehicle dead at the scene. Two children in the SUV, believed to be ages 2 and 5, were rushed to an area hospital, where one is in critical condition and the other is in stable condition.
The deputy was also hospitalized in stable condition. Three other adult victims received minor injuries.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
