News: Passenger killed in rear-end crash on US-59

HOUSTON, TX – A rear-end collision on the southwest freeway killed on person and left another seriously injured on Saturday morning.

According to a report by HPD, the crash occurred when a Mitsubishi Lancer stopped in the southbound lanes of the Southwest Freeway, near the I-610 interchange at about 3:10 a.m. The Mitsubishi was then rear-ended at a high rate of speed by a Toyota Tundra pickup truck.

A female passenger in the Mitsubishi was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was rushed to a local hospital with broken ribs.

The driver of the Toyota was uninjured.
