HOUSTON, TX – A four-vehicle crash took the life of an unidentified male on the 15500 block of the East Freeway Thursday night, according to the Harris County Sherriff’s Office.

A man was driving a Dodge Challenger west on the 15500 block of the East Freeway as Juan Pablo Chavero-Salas was driving a BMW in the same lane. The Dodge sideswiped the BMW on the passenger side as it tried to pass it.

After colliding with the BMW, the Dodge was sent to the right and struck the outside barrier with its front-right bumper. The impact from this collision sent the Dodge rotating counter-clockwise before finally coming to a rest in the middle of traffic facing southwest.

As this was happening, Ana Estrada was driving a Jeep Wrangler on westbound East Freeway. She swerved to avoid both the Dodge and the BMW but struck the outside barrier instead. Estrada then over-corrected and struck the passenger side of the Dodge. This then sent her into the inside barrier. The Jeep came to a rest facing south.

The passenger in the Dodge Challenger was not wearing a seatbelt when the collision occurred, and he was launched from the vehicle.

Latifa Adeniran was driving the fourth vehicle involved in the collision. She was driving a Honda accord and struck the outside barrier while trying to swerve out of the way of the wrecks. She did not hit any of the other vehicles involved in the collision.

First responders arrived around 9:50 a.m. They pronounced the man from the Dodge dead at the scene of the accident. The condition of the other drivers is not known at this time.

The Vehicular Crimes Division of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.
