News: Man dead, woman injured in crash involving suspected drunk driver

HOUSTON, TX – A man is dead and a woman is in the hospital following a collision with a suspected intoxicated driver on Highway 249 early Saturday morning, according to KTRK.

The crash happened near Breen Drive, just after 12 a.m., as a man and woman riding in a vehicle were stopped in a turning lane. Their car was then struck by the driver of a pickup truck who had veered out of its lane.

The male passenger in the first vehicle suffered fatal injuries in the crash. The female driver was hospitalized with severe injuries.

The driver, later identified as Donnovan Garcia, was reportedly under the influence when the accident occurred. He is facing charges of intoxicated manslaughter and aggravated assault in connection with the fatal collision.
