News: Man arrested for hit-and-run crash on Westheimer Rd

HOUSTON, TX – Walter Dewayne Petties, 21, has been charged in connection to the deadly crash that occurred Thursday night at 7900 Westheimer Rd, reports HPD.

The victim, a 44-year-old male, was crossing the street when he was struck by a Honda driven by Pettie. Pettie then fled the scene on foot after pulling into a driveway and calling 911.

Petties returned about two hours later to the scene of the collision with family members. He was arrested and charged with failure to stop and render aid.

Authorities will release the name of the victim once it has been verified by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

The Vehicular Crimes Division of the HPD is investigating the case.
