News: HCSO responds to major accident involving 18-wheeler on I-45

HOUSTON, TX – The Harris County Sheriff’s Office responded to an accident involving an 18-wheeler truck on I-45 early this morning, according to the department’s Twitter feed.
@HCSO_1Patrol units are on the scene of a major crash (car vs 18 wheeler) I-45 S southbound at Richie rd. All southbound lanes are temporarily closed. Traffic diverted to feeder. Drive with caution. #HouNews pic.twitter.com/o0NabUEkrz

The accident occurred in the southbound lanes of I-45 S and Richey Road at around 2:20 a.m. and involved an 18-wheeler truck and another vehicle.
Authorities shut down all lanes of southbound traffic as they investigated the accident. Traffic was diverted onto the frontage road in the meanwhile.
The cause of the crash was not immediately released.
No further details, including those regarding possible injuries, are available at this time.
