DEER PARK, TX – A man was impaled by rebar in a crash on Hwy 225 on Tuesday morning, according to KTRK.

A semi-truck driver hauling rebar pulled off on the shoulder of Hwy 225 near the intersection with Underwood Rd in order to get some sleep in the truck’s cabin. He had both his regular lights as well as his hazard lights on at the time.

At around 3:20 a.m. the driver was awoken when he felt something hit his truck. The driver exited his vehicle and found that an Infinity had struck the rear of the trailer. Rebar had gone through the infinity and had impaled the driver.

The driver checked on the driver and found no signs of life. He then called 911.

According to investigators, the driver of the infinity was a Hispanic male in his 30s or 40s.

Skid marks were not found at the scene which may indicate the driver had fallen asleep or had a medical emergency prior to the crash and was unable to slow down before crashing into the truck.
