News: 77-year-old man killed in crash with HPD patrol car

HOUSTON, TX – A man died in a collision involving a Houston Police patrol vehicle in northwest Houston yesterday.
According to KTRK, the patrol car was heading north on North Shepherd Drive around noon when it slammed into a passenger vehicle as it was turning left onto Thornton Road.
The driver of the passenger vehicle, 77-year-old Charles Payne Senior, suffered fatal injuries in the crash.
The officer was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.
Investigators are working to establish an official cause of the fatal crash at this time.
