News: 1 person dead, 2 injured in alleged DUI crash on Chimney Rock Rd

HOUSTON, TX – One person is dead and a woman is facing drunk driving charges after a crash in southwest Houston that also led to the injury of two other people early this morning.
According to KHOU, the crash occurred at around 3 a.m. near Gasmer Drive in the 11800 block of Chimney Rock Road, when a woman allegedly under the influence reportedly ran a red light. Her vehicle then collided with a second vehicle driving through the intersection.
Two people in the struck vehicle were taken to the hospital with severe injuries.
A passenger riding with the alleged drunk driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity was not immediately released.
Authorities took the suspect driver into police custody, and she may be facing possible intoxication manslaughter charges as a result of the crash.
