News: 1 dead, 1 hospitalized after house fire in SE Houston

HOUSTON, TX – A house fire in southeast Houston last night led to the death of one person and to the injury of another, according to KHOU.
The incident happened at a one-story home in the 5300 block of Greylog Avenue at about 9:45 p.m.
Firefighters arrived within six minutes of receiving the emergency call. When they reached the scene, they discovered heavy smoke and flames pouring from the residence.
One person was trapped in the kitchen, while another person was trapped in a hallway. The two victims were rescued with the help of thermal cameras, and then were taken to the hospital.
There, one of the two people was later pronounced dead.
The second victim remains in stable condition.
Authorities believe that the fire may have started in a bedroom.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
