HPD search for driver responsible for fatal hit-and-run in early July

HOUSTON, TX – Police in Houston are searching for the driver responsible for fatally striking a man at a cemetery driveway earlier this month.

According to a report by the Houston Police Department, the incident occurred on July 3rd at the Genoa Cemetary along Alameda Genoa Road.

Police say 32-year-old Gabriel Rodriguez was laying on the ground near the entrance gate when he was run over by a 2010 Nissan Altima.

Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene. Further investigation revealed that he may have been intoxicated and was seen lying in the driveway to the cemetery with headphones on.

The driver of the Nissan fled the scene before authorities arrived. No further information on their identity is available at this time.
