Driver on North Freeway rear-ends dump truck, dies

HOUSTON, TX – A driver is dead after they rear-ended a dump truck and was struck by a semi-truck on the North Freeway on Wednesday, reports HCSO.

The accident occurred around 5 a.m. on the 14800 block of the North Freeway. Austin Garret was driving a Dodge Challenger on northbound North Freeway when he slammed into the back of a dump truck.

Eventually, after hitting the truck, the Dodge came to rest in the outside lanes of the freeway. It was then struck by a semi-truck.

Garret was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision and was launched from the vehicle upon impact. He was taken to a hospital where he soon died.

The Vehicular Crimes Division of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the case.
