News update: More info released on fatal Tesla crash on Hammock Dunes Place

Posted on Thursday, October 21st, 2021 at 9:26 pm

SPRING, TX – Authorities have released additional information concerning the fatal Tesla crash that took the lives of two men on Hammock Dunes Place, NBC reports.

The crash happened on April 17th when the driver of a 2019 Model S Tesla took a turn too fast, left the road, and struck a curb, drainage culvert, raised manhole, and a roadside tree.

It is unclear if the 59-year-old driver and his 69-year-old passenger died at impact or in the fire that was caused by the lithium-ion battery. It took firefighters over 30,000 gallons of water to put out the blaze.

Initial reports from authorities said no one was behind the wheel when the crash took place. Now, the National Transportation Safety Board says the driver was behind the wheel of the car when the accident occurred.

The incident is under investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

News update: More details released concerning plane crash near Houston Executive Airport

Posted on Thursday, October 21st, 2021 at 5:17 pm

BROOKSHIRE, TX – The Houston Chronicle has released additional details have been released concerning the plane crash that injured two people Tuesday.

The plane, an MD-87 owned by developer J. Alan Kent, was scheduled to take off from the Houston Executive Airport at 10 a.m. It was to fly to Boston, so Kent and 17 other passengers could attend the American League Championship Series between the Houston Astros and Boston Red Sox.

According to authorities, the plane did not successfully take off when it reached the end of the runway, but instead rolled north and came to rest in a field near Morton Rd, where it caught on fire. The aircraft’s pilots said that the plane did not gain altitude even though they pulled back on the controls to do so.

Once the plane finally came to a stop, its 18 passengers and three crew members exited the aircraft using the inflatable evacuation slide. Flames had already begun to envelope the fuselage.

First responders took two people to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. It is unclear if these victims were among the crew or if they were passengers.

Officials say the full fuel tanks for the 1,600-mile flight to Boston led to the conflagration and caused most of the aircraft to burn up.

The incident is under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration.
