Bicyclist killed near Coal Creek Business Park

HOUSTON, TX – A bicyclist was killed after being struck near the Coal Creek Business Park community of Houston, reports Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Reynaldo Mendiola was driving a Ford truck east on the 8600 block of W. Little York Rd at around 1:03 a.m. The bicyclist was riding without any lighting east on the same street.
Mendiola struck the victim and the force of the impact threw the cyclist forward and he came to rest in the inside eastbound lane. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Following the accident, Mendiola remained at the scene. Impairment is not believed to be a factor in the collision.
Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division is investigating the case.
